Father Paul J. Henry, who served parishes in Anne Arundel, Baltimore and Harford counties, is retiring, effective July 1.

From 1980 to 1982, Father Henry was associate pastor of St. Jane Frances de Chantal in Pasadena. Father Henry served as co-pastor of St. Patrick in Havre de Grace for six months in 1987 before his appointment as pastor of St. Clare in Essex, where he served for almost four years.

In 1991, Father Henry was named administrator of St. Patrick, Havre de Grace, where he served for nearly six years before going on sabbatical for a year.

Father Henry began work for special ministry in 1998, which included retreats, Veterans Affairs and as assistant spiritual director of the Marian Institute of St. Francis de Sales.

Messages requesting an interview with Father Henry were not returned.

After attending Catholic schools in Delaware, Father Henry entered DeSales Hall School of Theology in Washington, D.C. He was ordained in 1970 in Philadelphia, Pa., to the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales.

From 1970 until his incardination into the Archdiocese of Baltimore in 1984, Father Henry, 71, was assigned in Pennsylvania and Delaware as chaplain and director of pastoral care at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Del.; coordinator of health affairs for the Diocese of Wilmington; coordinator of chaplain services for the National Conference of Catholic Bishops/United States Catholic Conference; and executive director of the National Associate of Catholic Chaplains.

Father Henry has served as host of a Scripture study program on cable television for many years.
