Music director moved thousands closer to God

On June 1 at a small parish in western Howard County, friends came together to say goodbye and lay to rest Anna Esposito, the director of liturgy and music for 22 years at St. Michael, Poplar Springs.

Since age 11, Anna dedicated her life to God through her extraordinary musical talents. She understood how to blend music prayerfully and respectfully within Catholic liturgies. In short, she helped us connect more emotionally with our Lord Jesus Christ through music and prayer. Anna was 86 when she passed away. Over her many years of service to God, she touched the hearts of thousands. Her music calmed a tortured soul, enlivened a fond memory of a parent or child now gone, and helped us take that first important step toward forgiving a wrong.

There is no longer an adult choir at St. Michael, but for one hour on June 1, a choir filled the church with music. It was a tribute to this wonderful lady. Enjoy your walk with God, Anna, and thank you for your prayerful music.
