“The Prophetic Church: Marching Toward Practical Solutions” is the theme of the 28th annual Social Ministry Convocation March 3 at The Seton Keough High School, Baltimore.
Sponsored by the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, Catholic Charities, the office of Hispanic Ministry, the office of African American ministry, Pax Christi of Baltimore, St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore and Beyond the Boundaries, the event will feature a social ministry fair, an awards ceremony honoring those who have demonstrated a commitment to social justice and a variety of workshops.
Dr. Gina Hens-Piazza, professor of biblical studies at the Jesuit School of Theology at Berkeley, will deliver the keynote address. Leo Achondo, national manager of the Justice for Immigrants campaign of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, will also deliver a keynote address for Spanish speakers.
Workshop topics range from housing to youth ministry to tips for beginning and sustaining a social justice ministry.
