Sister Barbara Furst, O.S.F., receives Nostrum Ecclesiam Tempus Award

Sister Barbara Furst, O.S.F., (formerly Sister Robert Catherine), a native of Baltimore, was awarded the Nostrum Ecclesiam Tempus Award, July 1, by the diocese of Trenton.

The award was inaugurated by Bishop John M. Smith to mark his 10th anniversary as bishop of the Diocese of Trenton. The award is a way of celebrating the women and men who have participated in an extraordinary way in the mission of the church.

Sister Barbara was a parishioner of St. Clement Mary Hofbauer, Rosedale, before entering the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia in 1958. She has spent many years in the education ministry.

Currently Sister Barbara is principal of Sister Georgine Learning Center for Exceptional Children, founded and named for Franciscan Sister Georgine Wohnhaas.
