Mayor Sheila Dixon is among participants expected to attend the 15th Annual New Year’s Eve Interfaith Service at St. Ignatius Church in Baltimore Dec. 31.
Members of the Jewish, Muslim and Christian faiths will participate in the service designed for giving thanks for blessings received in the Baltimore community and seeking God’s favor upon the city and its people for 2008.
The evening will begin with music at 8 p.m. The hour-long program will start at 8:30 p.m.
“It is an appropriate and different way to celebrate New Year’s Eve” said former St. Ignatius pastor Father William J. Watters, S.J., who founded the event.
Father James Casciotti, S.J., is the present St. Ignatius pastor and will host the various clergy in attendance.
Rev. Lauretta Halstead, who is associated with the Kingdom Worship Center in Towson will speak during the service.
