Scottish composer James MacMillan, who is Catholic and a political activist, will lead the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in performing two of his works at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on April 4 to 6.
The program includes MacMillan’s “Stomp (with Fate and Elvira)” and “Piano Concerto No. 2.”
Born in working-class Ayshire, Scotland, Mr. MacMillan’s compositions are influenced by and reflect his Catholic faith and his political and social beliefs. This season will see the premier of his “St. John Passion” with the London Symphony Orchestra.
On Wednesday, April 2, he will discuss his works and their influences at 7:30 p.m. at Theatre Project.
