Dr. Mary Pat Seurkamp, president of College of Notre Dame of Maryland, Baltimore, received a Leader in Education Award from the YWCA of Greater Baltimore.
The award was presented before an audience of more than 500 at the 2008 Leaders Lunch, Honoring our History, Celebrating our Future, at the Sheraton Baltimore City Center Hotel.
Women in 11 fields, from communications to sports management, received outstanding leader awards.
Dr. Seurkamp was honored for her leadership in higher education, particularly in guiding the college through a strategic planning process which reaffirmed its commitment to the education of women.
“The mission of the YWCA promotes women to lead and succeed, which is central to the work we do at College of Notre Dame,” Dr. Seurkamp said.
