St. Mary School will not be forgotten

It was with great sadness that I learned of the closing of St. Mary of the Assumption School in Govans (CR, May 21). My six children attended St. Mary’s and all graduated with a wonderful education that prepared them for high school and college. I want to express my deepest thanks to the wonderful clergy, dedicated nuns and lay teachers, and hard-working staff who made St. Mary’s one of the outstanding schools in the archdiocese. In addition there were so many great families who always gave tremendous support to the school. Many of us are still connected by our St. Mary’s Parents’ Club Alumni, which we formed 30 years ago to give whatever help we could to the school and parish. St. Mary’s School may be closing, but it will not be forgotten.
