Can a student’s Catholic faith survive college or the military? Most new college students want to find a place to belong. They want to be part of a community of people making a difference. The problem is many students struggle to find great friends who share their faith. Walking onto a new campus or base with no friends is overwhelming. There are so many opportunities and decisions to make. Faith usually isn’t at the top of their list. Sadly, over 80% of Catholic students drift from their faith during college. Our Archdiocese is changing that through our local college campus ministries and our partnership with a nonprofit ministry called Newman Connection.
Newman Connection connects students with a Catholic community on campus so their faith thrives in college and beyond. Since 2009, we’ve connected 600,000+ students to campus ministry in college and are endorsed in 115+ dioceses nationwide, including the Archdiocese of the Military. Newman Connection ensures students continue their faith journey in college and their military base. Imagine a future where students become lifelong disciples, and their faith survives college and is even stronger because of it!
This program complements your existing youth/campus ministry efforts and provides a concrete way to extend your pastoral care beyond high school graduation. It ensures your young parishioners have immediate access to the sacraments and Catholic community when they arrive on campus or military base.
Participating is straightforward and free. Newman Connection provides all the tools and support needed to implement this program in your parish and/or school. Your staff’s only role is sharing graduating seniors’ contact information and college destinations within Newman Connection’s secure system, enabling campus ministry teams to welcome them from day one.
Contact Rena.Black@archbalt.org if you have questions about how to implement this free program in your school and/or parish.

The Archdiocese of Baltimore’s Institute for Evangelization is a new model for engagement with parishes seeking to realize their evangelizing mission more fully.
The Institute is composed of four offices that collaborate closely to ensure that support is never “one-size fits all” but can adapt to the changing needs of each parish community.
