Archbishop Edwin F. O’Brien will read to approximately 60 kindergarten students at Immaculate Conception School in Towson on Wednesday, May 20 at 9:30 a.m.
The Archbishop will read from a book about Mary, Mother of Jesus. His visit to the school named in honor of the Blessed Mother, coincides with the Church’s celebration of Mary this month.
Catholic devotion to the life and ministry of Mary during the month of May dates back to the 13th Century, a practice more recently affirmed by Pope Paul VI, who in 1965 encouraged Catholics “in their churches and their homes, to offer the Virgin Mother more fervent and loving acts of homage and veneration.”
Immaculate Conception School is located at 112 Ware Avenue and educates 553 children in grades Pre-K through eight.
