Archdiocese Holds Mass of Thanksgiving Sunday for Election of New Pope

Archbishop William E. Lori will celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving for the election of Pope Francis on Sunday, March 17 at 11 a.m. at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen in Baltimore.

A large crowd of worshippers is expected as the Archbishop leads the faithful of the Nation’s oldest diocese in prayers of thanksgiving for the 266th successor of St. Peter, whose inaugural Mass will take place at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome on Tuesday, March 19, the Feast of St. Joseph, at 4:30 a.m. (Eastern).

Catholic school students will carry banners representing the 70 Catholic schools of the Archdiocese, and representatives of the 153 Catholic parishes will be present. Additionally, representatives of area Catholic hospitals, universities, seminaries, religious communities and organizations will attend the Mass.

There are no tickets for this Mass and all are welcome to attend.
