Gathering your parishioners together for Mass – even daily Mass – is easier than you might think. Often it just requires a smartphone, an internet connection, and a Facebook account. On this page you will find resources on how to begin live streaming your Masses tomorrow.

Find the best space to stream Mass (Hint: It might not be the Church or Chapel)

• Smaller rooms and carpets are often better to reduce echo.
• Avoid room with distracting background noises.
• Ensure the space has adequate WiFi or cellular reception.

Position the Camera

• Avoid placing any light sources directly behind you, including windows.
• Unless you have a microphone connected to the camera, it is better to have the camera closer.
• Use an inexpensive tripod and camera mount, found online. It works better than “propping up” the phone on the altar.
• Frame yourself in the phone so people can see both the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

Before Your First Mass Online

• Identify the platform where you will stream Mass. Facebook is quick, free, user friendly, and almost everyone has it.
• Try a sample live stream before attempting to live stream the Mass.

While Celebrating Mass

• Start the live stream a few minutes before the beginning of Mass to let parishioners find the link and tune in.
• Remember: your parishioners are at home trying to participate. Invite them to respond, and give them enough time to respond each time.
