Local Economist Presents Findings of Analysis of Economic Benefits of Catholic Schools to Graduates, Community
Noted Baltimore economist, Anirban Basu, will present findings from his 2010 study of the economic benefits provided by Catholic Schools in the Baltimore Archdiocese to their graduates and the greater community, at a breakfast meeting hosted by Archbishop Edwin F. O’Brien on Thursday, January 13 at 7:45 a.m. at the Center Club in Downtown Baltimore.
The study, The Economic Benefits Produced by Archdiocese of Baltimore Catholic Schools & Their Graduates, was conducted by Basu’s economic and policy consulting firm, Sage Policy Group. It focused on the “large, varied and highly positive economic impacts generated through the operations of Baltimore’s Catholic schools,” as noted in the study’s introduction.
The meeting is sponsored by Medifast, Inc., and will feature approximately 40 community and business leaders. It is the first in a series of community-based discussions to be hosted by the Archdiocese.
