Please join us for our fourth viewing of a 5-part series called The Bible and the Virgin Mary. This series was created by the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology. Lecture: The Francis Effect – A Radical Pope's Challenge to the American Catholic Church (Archdiocese of Baltimore)
On August 1, at 7:30 PM, St. Ignatius Catholic Community will present the Annual Ignatian Day Lecture in which John Gehring will show how Pope Francis has influenced both the Catholic Church in the United States and the American political discourse, thus altering the spiritual and cultural landscape for perhaps decades to come. Gehring is Catholic Program Director at Faith in Public Life, an advocacy group in Washington, D.C.. He is the author of The Francis Effect: A Radical Pope’s Challenge to the American Catholic Church (Rowman & Littlefield, 2015), which Publishers Weekly praised as a “well-researched work that features dozens of Catholic voices driving the conversation about Pope Francis.” His commentary and analysis have appeared in the Washington Post, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, National Catholic Reporter, America and Commonweal.  He is a former associate director for media relations at the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and has been a staff writer at The Catholic Review, The Frederick Gazette, and Education Week. Frassati Night for Young Adults (Archdiocese of Baltimore)
ALL young adults in their 20s and 30s are invited to the Baltimore Frassati Fellowship's monthly night of worship at Saints Philip and James Church! Join us on the third Saturday evening of each month. Adore the Lord in the Eucharist with praise and worship. There will also be a talk and opportunities for confession. After our time of worship, we'll have a social for young adults in their 20s and 30s in the parish hall. Come, and bring your friends! Parking is available in the parking lot on East 28th Street between St. Paul and North Charles Streets, across the street from the Saints Philip and James Rectory.
