painting of Christ

The process of elementary catechesis is situated within the framework of the entire Christian community and life. The whole of parish life forms and nourishes faith by facilitating the ongoing process of conversion. The Family, the Parish community, the Catholic School and Faith Formation processes are evangelizing agents whose Gospel witness mentor children in the ways of Christian discipleship.

Textbook Selection

The Religious Education textbook is one of many valuable tools in the endeavor of Evangelization and Catechesis. The Archdiocese of Baltimore does not recommend a specific textbooks series, but rather, recommends a process for choosing an appropriate textbook for the parish community. “How to Choose Catechetical Textbooks: Process and Criteria” published by the National Conference of Catechetical Leadership can be obtained by contacting the Division of Evangelization and Catechesis of the Archdiocese or directly at www.nccl.org or by calling 202-636-3826.

For more resources or information for Elementary Catechesis in the parish or Catholic School, contact: Ms. Carol A. Augustine via email caugustine@archbalt.org or by phone 410-547-5403.
