A Message From Archbishop Lori
Faith "sees" to the extent that it journeys, to the extent that it chooses to enter into the horizons opened up by God’s word.
With these words from his first papal encyclical, Pope Francis implores us to view our faith as something that is dynamic, ever-growing, and ever-seeking God’s truth. As we move Forward in Faith, both as an archdiocesan family and as individuals on our own journeys of missionary discipleship, I ask that we remember Our Holy Father’s words. For, indeed, we are challenged – both personally and institutionally – to overcome a complacency that can hold us back, challenged to embrace an ongoing conversion that commits us more fully to Christ. Are we appreciating and living out the tenets of our Faith as responses of love and not merely seeing them as burdensome rules, disconnected from our lives? Have we welcomed the Holy Spirit into our hearts, thus transforming our lives and enabling us to share our faith with our neighbors who yearn to grow as well? Each year the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal affords us an opportunity to enhance our evangelization efforts so that we may invite our neighbors to reconnect with the Living Christ. In asking for your generous participation, I am hoping that you will join me in advancing our mission of evangelization and in extending Our Lord’s message of enduring love to all.
